Pat Sajak is stepping back into the spotlight — this time, under the stage lights in paradise.

The beloved Wheel of Fortune host, who retired last year after a legendary 41-season run, has announced his first acting role since saying goodbye to the iconic game show. The 78-year-old will return to the stage this summer in Honolulu, starring in Prescription: Murder at the Hawaii Theatre Center.

According to the theatre’s website, Sajak will play Dr. Roy Flemming, a brilliant psychiatrist who devises the perfect plan to murder his wife — and even crafts an airtight alibi. But standing in his way is Lt. Columbo, played by longtime collaborator Joe Moore. The classic cat-and-mouse thriller sees the rumpled but razor-sharp detective slowly unraveling Flemming’s seemingly flawless crime, leading to a climactic showdown.

Sajak and Moore are no strangers to the stage together. Their performance in The Odd Couple at the same venue back in 2001 marked one of several productions over the years. However, this summer’s Prescription: Murder will likely be their final act as a duo.

“This will probably be our last time onstage together,” the pair shared, adding an emotional note to what promises to be a memorable run.

Gregory D. Dunn, president and CEO of the Hawaii Theatre Center, expressed deep appreciation for Sajak’s continued support of the nonprofit venue.

“They’ve done six shows together over the years, and Pat has been incredibly generous with his time and talent,” Dunn told People. “We’re very fortunate to have him back for one last show to help raise funds for the theatre.”

Dunn, who grew up watching Wheel of Fortune with his grandmother, said it’s been a joy working with Sajak, both as a fan and a colleague.

“He’s exactly the warm, genuine person you see on TV,” Dunn added. “He brings so much professionalism and heart to the stage — he’s a truly talented actor.”
